ARTIST STATEMENT
I painted this to show how colour impacts emotions, in this case, exploring the way colour evokes a state of happiness. Upon research the colour yellow came up more often than not. Yellow is subjectively the most energetic of the warm colors and it is associated with laughter, hope and sunshine. However, yellow has been known to irritate the eye in big volumes which brought me to the idea of ‘balance’. Incorporating elements of different areas in your life at similar levels can create ‘balance’ and by practising balance in one’s life, you can work to achieve happiness. “Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony” (Thomas Mertom)
