Since May 2014 Dan Withey has been researching the representation of mortality in traditional European art at the Art Gallery of South Australia. From this, Dan has produced a new painting, ‘Wake’, that confronts the subject of mortality in an eclectic storm of religious symbols, material possessions and emblems of renewal.
‘Wake’ can be seen in Gallery 16 in the Melrose Wing, Art Gallery of South Australia until 18 January 2015.
