Carole King has recently been awarded the  Warren Entsch Award: Best Acrylic Painting, for her painting ‘The Mangrove’ at the 73rd Annual Cairns Art Society Exhibition 2021.

‘The Cairns Art Society is one of North Queensland’s oldest and largest community art organisations and was formed in 1931 to ‘promote an interest in art and where possible help individual artists to achieve their aims’. Over the years the Society’s annual art exhibition has become an important community event.

Each year the competitive annual exhibition attracts hundreds of submissions from local artists from which an independent panel of judges select the best entries for exhibition at the Cairns Art Gallery.
