Artist statement
Wooroolin Wetland is a palustrine wetland, a non tidal, inland, seasonally flooded, vegetated and with a bird hide and two walking trails.
Situated 16 klms from Kingaroy along the Bunyah Highway.
Tree planting is being carried out by local schools and nesting boxes for sugar gliders and possums are being placed. Over 25 different birds have been sighted including nankeen Kestrels, striated pardalotes and golden headed cisticola.
I cannot resist Wetlands.
The combination of water, reflections, bird life and the sense of an invisible community travelling along it’s own life pathway is irresistible.
The water reflections, create multiple images; the water moves again; bird life movement; colour blurs with shapes and re-presents images of the wetland vegetation and birdlife with realism and some abstraction of shapes.
Amongst my gathered and collected papers I see a person of another time, to me he expresses the timelessness of nature with the curiosity of man, I call him Caleb and I place him in Wetland with Movement.
