Yosi Messiah

Represented Artist

Yosi Messiah’s career as an artist spans over 17 years. His successful career as a jewellery designer led him to expand on his creative profession and drew him closer to explore the art of painting. Yosi studied painting at Charlie Sheard’s School and did life drawing at Julian Ashton. Yosi built a successful reputation as an abstract painter but in 2010 he decided it’s time to move on and explore another style of painting. This new body of work is a departure from his abstract style but as Yosi says, “you never know, I may go back to abstract one day”. For now Yosi is very motivated to work loosely to bring his figurative work to life with his strong imagery, colours and themes.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Yosi Messiah’s career as an artist spans over seventeen years. He built a successful reputation as an abstract painter, but in 2010 began to explore a figurative style of painting. This new body of work is a departure from his abstract style but for now Yosi is very motivated to work loosely to bring his figurative work to life with his strong imagery, colours and themes.
After owning a successful jewellery business Messiah’s creative curiosity led him to study painting at Charlie Sheard’s School, and life drawing at Julian Ashton’s.
Since 2003 Messiah has been building a successful reputation with his abstract grid work. Messiah’s figurative work is his most recent creative direction, and has been inspired by pop culture and play station imagery. His work is characterized by his love of intricate line detail and a bold and exuberant colour palette taken from his experience as an abstract painter. Yosi lives and works in Sydney, Australia
As a young boy, Messiah dreamt of becoming an animator. He spent his time drawing Mickey Mouse and other cartoon characters. His work is a clash of quirky pop culture creatures. Robots and super heroes leap and intermingle with the heroes and heroines of the 21st century. Layers of warm desert colours, mix with cool ocean blues, and a graphic drawing style have created “societies maze” it’s Messiah’s way of building the layers of society “The cocktail that we are living in”.
