Joaquin Valdez Macher is a self-taught artist based in Chicago. With an educational background in print and design, and graduating with First Class Honours, Joaquin’s paintings demonstrate influence from elements of line and striking colour. His subjects are illustrative, however unlike their graphic-art counterparts, Joaquin’s work imparts strong image driven narrative that is easily translated and highly emotive.
Valdez Macher produces work of significant beauty. His union of opposing colours is random and systemic at once and key to his signture style. Subtly adding dimension to his illustraive style is the artsits use of light to project and enliven his oddly familiar scenes from often obsure perspectives. With a progressive approach to his practice and a relatively recent addition to the contemporary art scene, Joaquin Valdez Macher is an artist to watch. He is represented in the Netherlands, London, Hong Kong, Australia, and the U.S with work continuing to populate established collectors circles around the globe.

“My paintings are a celebration of colour and light. I use a wide range of pastel hues to create dreamlike and evocative images. Lines are clean and precise patterns are diverse and my compositions are balanced and harmonious.
