German Jauregui is a Colombian Australian artist with an award-winning design career spanning over twenty years, including acknowledgements from the prestigious Golden A’design Award in Italy.
German is now exploring the bounds of his creativity through sculpture. Studying woodwork at the Sturt School of Design provided German with the knowledge and skillset to develop his artistry in what he terms “random geometry”. On this, the artists says: “During the last decade, I have been exploring different elements, angles of design and materials, finding an affinity for the noble, yet humble, timber.” In recent years, Germans’ curiosity and exploration of malleable materials has seen him drawn to experimentation with aluminium particularly, how it can be manipulated into contorted alluring forms.
German is representative of Australian contemporary sculptor, where accomplished craftmanship and innovative creativity deliver provocative art that promises to visually entertain.
German won the Good Design selection award in 2017 and, is a recipient of the prestigious Lapiz de Acero “Steel Pencil” Award, Colombia.
