ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Gabriel Hune, based in Brazil, is an artist illustrator who claims to have been lured to art from young age. Now a running joke amongst his family, Hune says drawing was his favourite activity as a child and his evolution to professional artist was a natural albeit obvious progression. ‘When I was a kid, my favourite thing was to draw. Even today, this “joke” is still part of my life.

Influenced by the merging of the Brazilian and Chilian urban graffiti art scene, Hune began his creative journey producing works on canvas and pieces of discarded wood. Within a year, Hune’s practice had grown to encompass street paintings also leading to his desire to develop work that was striking, expressive and stylistically unique.

Hune succeeded, with his vivacious characters heavily influenced by cartoon, pop surrealism and geometry, including the use of vectors and lines. My themes are playful, delicate, impregnated with sensibility, and propose to fiddle with the unconscious of people and provoke varied reflections. To achieve this, I always do an immersion, in my studio to perform my work. This surreal image arise and what is impossible to live in our real plane appears on the screen and on paper. A frequent form in my works is a character who is always in search of the heart. Like me, he believes that by using the heart, life flows better, with more wisdom and light.  And then, Magic happens: the light that shines in my heart is put on the screen in the form of fantasy and everything becomes possible, even for my audience, that can be awakened to the hidden enigmas of love and dream.

Hune has exhibited studio work in Spain and Brazil with his mural work adorning various urban landscapes around the world.
