With artistic integrity regardless of circumstance, Angie Goto’s work is no doubt influenced by the fact that she was born deaf. Art provides Angie with a vehicle to explore colour and imagery from this unique perspective. An Australian artist, with a distinctive figurative interpretation of her surroundings, her vibrant abstractions are delicate, proportionally honed and burgeoning in sensory detail.
Angie is experienced in ceramics, glassware, clothing and film, with painting becoming her full-time occupation more recently. Her work is visually striking and mentally challenging. Angie studied Fine Art and Graphic Design in Newcastle and Sydney. She was chosen to be an Art Educator by The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia for a project targeted to the deaf and hearing impaired. In 2016 Angie held two successful exhibitions in Surry Hills and Leichhardt, the catalyst to her intensive commitment to painting.
