ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Mickey Mason (b. 1993) is a self-taught artist based in Port Elliot, South Australia. Before turning to art, Mason studied and worked in film, a background that informs his work with a strong narrative quality. His art often features motifs from the western genre, adventure, spy thrillers, and sci-fi, with a recurring exploration of introspective and enigmatic characters. His compositions evoke a dreamlike world where the surf is always perfect, everyone smokes, and aliens are regular visitors. Mason works with a variety of mediums, from acrylic paint to glitter, often resulting in thick, textural canvases that bring his surreal visions to life.** — This version shifts the focus to “introspective and enigmatic characters,” giving a broader sense of the types of figures that might appear in his work.
