Artist Biography
Jun Oson, born in 1979, Japan, is an illustrator and artist living in Kamakura known for his nihilistic pop-oriented style. Influenced by manga animations, Jun brings his own satirical cartoonism to the canvas with ambiguous figures occupying a dystopian world.
Diversity is a recurring and prevalent theme in Onson’s work and the motive for the artist’s peanut like shaped faces. Emphasis is purposefully placed on creating indeterminable figures incorporating unsystematic characteristics that transcend nationality. Displaced worlds of individuals with various nationalities, skin tones and features.
Oson’s artwork expands upon, while rooted in, his experience as a commercial illustrator including distinct graphic lines, block colour pigments and illustrative characters, all aesthetic elements fundamental to that profession.
Highly collectable, Oson has been active worldwide in the UK, France, Spain, Dubai, Hong Kong, Seoul and Beijing, both in exhibitions and producing new studio work.
