Biography
Originally from Los Andes in the central Aconcagua Valley of Chile, visual artist Ramiro Silva Cortes, chiefly focus’s his creative pursuits on painting. With a Bachelor in Advertising from the University of Art, Science and Communications of Santiago the artist is currently developing his art practice in the cities of Los Andes and Chicago, Illinois where he’s been based since 2013.
Ramiro’s work echoes the neurological pathways the artist meanders through to produce it. Although seemingly abstract, his work is a reflection of both the commonalities and complexities of what lies within us all and postulates a philosophised image of our internal experience. Weirdly familiar and completely new all at once Ramiro’s work achieves that delicate balance of aesthetic appeal and philosophical intrigue.
Ramiro states, “My work is based on observation and dehumanization of the mundane as an invitation to let feelings move. Sin Miedo a Sentir is the determination to open and let every feeling move around with complete freedom. The trifecta of colours, emotions and time is what helps this body of work become the witness of progression from emotional naïveté to the discovery of balance through self-awareness.”
Ramiro has exhibited in various solo exhibitions in Chicago over many years and has participated in numerous group exhibitions, again, in Chicago as well as South Korea.
