Artist Biography

Based in her home studio amidst a tranquil, nature-filled setting, Australian artist, Claire Yerbury ‘s art is deeply influenced by her surroundings.

Working primarily on wooden panels, Claire employs a diverse range of media, including acrylic paint, inktense pencils, oil crayon, print collage, and paper. Through this mixed-media approach, she constructs intricate layers that interplay with both contrast and harmony, resulting in a subtle yet unified aesthetic. The intimate scale of her works serves to intensify her subject matter, imbuing each piece with a sense of fragility and closeness.

Claire’s thematic explorations delve into profound aspects of existence, including life, death, beauty, decay, growth, joy, sorrow, and impermanence. These themes emerge from her keen interest in Zen Buddhism and her observations of the natural world. Often, her artistic expression incorporates imagery that reflects her background as a cellist and her knowledge of horticulture.

Holding a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Arts, Claire has exhibited extensively throughout her career in galleries across Sydney, Brisbane, Tasmania, and the Northern Rivers region. Her artistic journey is one of continuous evolution, as she continues to express her unique and personal experience of life through her art.
