BIOGRAPHY
Canadian-born artist Ramona Nordal began her artistic pursuits at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she studied lithography, colour theory, painting and drawing and later focused on anatomy drawing and painting.
Colour theory has always been an integral part of Nordal’s process who is rapidly becoming known for her richly evocative colour pallet tethered against, what appear to be, monochromatic subjects, but that are subtly infused with colour themselves.
Central to her work is the concept of combining the traditional with the unconventional. Her work is representative of her interest in human form, pop art culture and capturing the essence of her subjects. Nordal is hyper aware of art’s relationship with human emotion and her subjects reflect this consciousness. Subjects captivate you, entice you into their world and beguile you with their reticent stare.
The artist says, “The random collaboration of old and new is important to me because this is how I see the new generation. It is the mixture of traditional and unconventional that attracts us and takes us on a fresh new journey.”
Nordal creates the kind of distinctive work that is not swayed by trends. Her style is uniquely her own, trademarks of collectable art that has a dedicated and niche following. Her work can be found in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia, Honk Kong and Europe.
